Best bouquets

At this time of year, as we are smothered in snow and cold, I start dreaming about warm summer days and garden blooms. Photos of my favorite bouquets in the cabins are always a good place to start.

There is nothing better than the colors and scents of wildflowers. The roadsides in the U.P. are full of seasonal favorites, including those stunning purple lupines, sweet peas, yarrow, daisies, tansy, black-eyed susans, forget-me-nots, and Queen Anne’s lace.

I have always received much joy from gardening. It’s fun to plan some new additions to a perennial garden during the winter months, and shopping for spring annuals (including my favorites: geraniums, impatiens, and trailing petunias) is one of my best days of the year. Herbs like oregano, marjoram, and mint are also fun, fragrant additions to cut flower arrangements.

Simple is always best. The wilder the arrangements, the better.

Cut flowers bring joy and make every space just a little more beautiful.
